Prague Castle Dating from the Ninth Century

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world. It may be huge but it is the most visited tourist attraction in Prague and the day we visited I was in awe and anguish over the hordes of tourists roaming the castle complex.  We were also surprised by the armed guards (not the sentry guards), but then we read that the castle is also the official office of the President of the Czech Republic.

We had just climbed hundreds of stairs to get to the castle and walked on uneven cobblestone pathways and I was in no mood for crowds and trying to buy tickets to see the interior of the castle so we crossed our fingers and hoped the gardens of the castle weren’t popular.  The gardens proved tranquil and tourist horde-less.
